Our trip to Ireland On April 26th, 2025 our class, accompanied by our teachers Ms. Pamperl and Ms. Paur, set off on our long-awaited trip to Ireland – an experience that would not only help us improve our English and discover Irish culture, but also create memories that will likely stay with us for a lifetime. |
We spent the week in Bray, a charming little seaside town located about 40 minutes south of Dublin. There, we stayed with host families that kindly welcomed us into their homes, allowing us to get a glimpse of everyday life in Ireland.
The mornings were usually spent in PACE language school, where we attended lessons with native speakers who helped us improve our English skills in a fully immersive context. In the afternoons, thanks to our English teachers Ms. Gefäll and Ms. Palka who had so carefully planned the trip, we enjoyed a fun and varied itinerary that included everything from museum visits to Dublinia, EPIC Ireland and the famine ship Jeanie Johnston in Dublin to an Irish dancing class which we all thoroughly enjoyed.
On Saturday, we embarked on a day trip to the Cliffs of Moher, where we were unfortunately greeted by the famous Irish weather—fog and rain wherever you looked. However, our bus driver lifted our spirits with interesting facts and fun trivia about Ireland as well as a scenic detour through the breathtaking landscape of the Burren (a curvy road trip that not everyone handled equally well!). Our stop in Galway added another highlight to the day, making sure it was far from wasted. And of course, the unpredictable weather gave us a great story to tell!
Our time off was very often spent shopping and eating – we will forever remember the delicious ice cream in Bray – but of course, this wasn’t the end of it: in the evenings, we went bowling, cheered for the Bray Wanderers at a football match, and some of us even hiked up Bray Head on our free morning. In the breaks and evenings, Bray’s beautiful stony beach turned out to be the perfect spot to hang out and relax.
All in all, our week in Bray was a fantastic experience full of learning, laughter and lasting memories that brought us all a little closer together. We would once more like to thank our teachers who have put so much thought and effort into the trip – we will surely never forget this week!
…but of course, we should also hear what the students themselves have to say:
“Ireland was one of the best school trips I ever went on. We didn’t only get the chance to improve our English, but made memories, we will remember forever. Especially the Bray Head Cross and the Irish Dance Evening were great excursions that I would definitely recommend!“ - Viktoria
“What I remember most is the wonderful nature and the ocean. I also loved the traditional Irish music and dancing. Overall, it was an amazing experience that helped me improve my English and learn more about Irish culture.” - Eszter
“ The part I liked the most was the ship museum Jeanie Johnston because the guide explained everything very well and it was a very nice experience overall. In my opinion, the trip was very nice and I'd love to go there again.” – Noah
“Ireland was one of the best experiences that I ever had. The time with the class was great and I would give everything to go there again. Everything was so beautiful and even the weather couldn’t stop us from having a great time. The school was also great - I didn’t expect it to be so fun! Fortunately, my fear about staying with a host family were unnecessary because they were so sweet.” - Lisa
“I really loved the trip to Ireland because it was just something different to live with a host family than in a hotel. Furthermore, the landscape and the country itself was just incredible and our class grew a little bit closer. My highlight was the Irish dancing session and that we lived very close to the beach in Bray. The trip to the cliffs of Moher will also stay in my mind for a long time since the weather was horrible and we were soaked by the rain. I would rate the trip as one of the best journeys I’ve ever taken.” - Vanessa
