Astgasse Goes Fashion!

On May 20th, we, the students of 3A, swapped textbooks for the catwalk in a slightly different English lesson in which we organized our very own fashion show.

The show was the highlight of our mini-unit on fashion, in which we learned all about clothing, colours, patterns, materials, and styles, as well as how to describe outfits in detail. In these lessons, we also talked a lot about how fashion can help us to express our unique identities. The inspiration for the project came to us while reading “The Boy in the Dress” by David Walliams, a fun young adult novel about the way fashion can help us express who we are.

Motivated by the book, each of us created an outfit reflecting our own personality, interests or mood. Then, on May 20th, the big day was finally here: the second-floor hallway was transformed into our very own catwalk. As music played, we walked, danced, and posed while our self-written outfit descriptions were read aloud by our English teacher Ms Paur. We all thoroughly enjoyed the show and loved cheering each other on!

After the show, we did a mini photoshoot to capture our outfits and the fun spirit of the day. The photos below show just how much fun we had — and how well we all worked on the challenge.

Here’s what some students had to say about the experience:

I really enjoyed being in the spotlight.” – Alisa (3A)
“The fashion show was amazing – Heidi Klum couldn’t have done it any better!” – Mara (3A)
“It was amazing!” – Laura (3A)
